Fahrenheit 451

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is a science fiction novel. The main characters in the book are Guy Montag, Clarisse McClellan, and Mildred. The mood of this book is serious, dark, and scary.
This book takes place in the future. Nobody is allowed to read any books and if you are caught with one you will be sent to a mental hospital. The book will be burnt by the firemen. In this book firemen start fires instead of putting them out. Their job is to find books and burn them. Their trucks are filled with kerosene instead of water.
Guy Montag has been a fireman for ten years. During his time of being a fireman he always enjoyed it, and never complained about his job. He enjoyed the burning sensation of books. However that all changed when he met Clarisse McClellan.
Clarisse McClellan was a unusual girl. She liked hiking, running around, tasting rain and much more. She befriends Montag and by talking to him she changes him into a different person. Montag starts to think about his life and questions himself if he is happy or not. Sadly Clarisse dies because she gets hit by a car.
His wife Mildred is a very forgetful person. For example, she took a whole bottle of sleeping pills, because every time she took one, a few minutes later she forgot and took another one.
I have only read the first section so I don't know how it ends. In my opinion Montag is going to change the world. He is going to speak for two people: Clarisse, who inspired him to think differently than others, and himself. So far this is a great book because of the suspense and the strong message about censorship, and knowledge. Ray Bradbury did a great job of combining his thoughts and his passion. I think what he is trying to say is that books civilize people and television doesn't, so the lack of reading will make humans bestial.
